For dog owners, there a is common problem that we all face on a daily basis. That is the doggie doo that is left behind when taking a walk. For most of us, it is even the law to pick up after our pets. Unfortunately, there are over 4 million tons of dog waste that is not collected annually. This contributes to the bacteria in the contaminated waters and pollutes the waterways.
Now, the real ’stinker’ is, putting something that is 100% biodegradable into something that takes over 100 years to break down. Most of us when taking our dogs for a walk take the free plastic bags from the store and use it to pick up the dog waste. There are a couple of drawbacks to this method– You have to feel the squishy, warm feeling of the poo, plus your bag may have a hole in it and we all know how that feels! Once we have it in the plastic bag we then toss it in the garbage and it makes its way to the landfill where it spends hundreds of years trying to break down.
